  1. Overall satisfied, but room for improvement

Posted by Jaco Theron on 9th Jun 2020

The 3d pen is easy to use and understand, and typically performs as one would expect. I do have a few complaints:
    1) it is quite noisy while pushing and retracting filament.
    2) it only come with a USB cable (nice that it can be run from a powerbank, though it should be a beefy one), but no USB charger/adapter (a computer might struggle to provide the 2A).
    3) does not come with a stand. I 3D printed one, after designing it in a few minutes, but would have been nice to have a stand with the pen (to protect the fragile ceramic tip).
    4) long filament path. the last about 20cm of filament can't easily be used (running it through with new filament following can jam).
    5) the full retraction is time based and can't be stopped until the time runs out (it takes a while).

Other than the above issues, a few good areas: it have a strong continuous pull (I made a spool holder from which it gets the filament). Pressing the extrude button when it is extruding, retracts a little (very useful; you do not hold the button to continue extruding).

Overall satisfied, but there are room for improvement.
