 Product Description

Black PETG filament for open source 3D Printers.  High quality, constant diameter, bright constant colours for accurate repeatable prints.  The filament comes on a plastic spool and is sealed in a plastic bag with dececant and packaged in a box (sometimes we remove the filament from the box to fit everything into your parcel).  Each spool is marked with the type of filament, the recommended printing temperature and the manufacturing batch number.  We have a lot of confidence in the filament we supply, because we use it ourselves.

PETG (Polyethylene terephthalate glycol-modified) is a transparent copolyester.  It has mechanical properties similar to that of ABS, but has the advantage of low shrinkage.  So this makes it a strong material that can easily be printed like PLA.  This is why it is becoming more and more popular. PET is the same material Coke bottles are made of.

  2. Cron PETG Filament review

Posted by Matthew Kapnoudhis on 11th Mar 2020

I like the Cron filament from the 3D printing store. The key for good filament is consistency throughout each roll and they definitely produce good filament.

It prints well and the diameter is constant.

I have had one bad roll which I needed to bake in the oven for a couple of hours but this was one roll of probably 60 black rolls that I have bought before.

I use about 2 rolls of Cron Black filament per month and does not disappoint.

  3. Works well

Prints easily, strong enough for functional prints, doesn't warp, adheres well to hairspray and does not smell. A win all around.

  4. Good but..

Posted by Jason on 12th Jun 2016

First time I'm using PETG filament and obviously there's a learning curve. Not much as it works in the same way as ABS with a few extra benefits.
Finish of this particular filament is good, has a high gloss finish and has a bit of flex but is a little brittle after printing so don't force it. Doesn't seem to shrink much and sticks very well to the glass bed using hairspray (Perfect Touch - Ultimate Hold from Clicks).

Downside... the filament is wound a little tight onto the roll so it keeps jamming my extruder. Keep an eye on it while you print.
Don't forget to set your extruder steps down a little as it is softer than ABS so the extruder bites into it a little more.

Will see how well my prints hold up to use as it may be worth switching over from ABS.
